Spring 2026 Eagle Days

Eagle Days is a cross-grade level program where 1st - 6th grade students select 2 electives to immerse themselves in for one week.  Registration is now open.  Please sign your child up for 1 morning class and 1 afternoon class.  Enrollment in each class is limited.  Be sure to enter your student's name (not your name). CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

(Open to grades 1-6, unless noted otherwise.)

MORNING session options (8:45am – 10:15am)

Roller Coaster Mania - This hands-on class will explore the physics of motion and gravity, using ramps and marble runs to experiment with potential and kinetic energy. Participants will then enter the engineering phase by collaborating in groups to design techniques and draft detailed blueprints for their unique coaster concepts. After construction and testing, students will have a final showcase where they present their functional models and reflect on the wonder of rollercoasters.

 

Four Square Frenzy - This high-energy program teaches students the rules, strategies, and sportsmanship of the classic playground game of Four Square. Students will develop hand-eye coordination, agility, reaction time, and teamwork while learning advanced serves, ball control techniques, and creative game variations. This class promotes confidence, fair play, and positive competition in a fun and structured environment.

 

Keychain Creations - Get ready for a colorful, creative, and hands-on crafting adventure! In Keychain Creations, students will design and make their very own custom keychains—perfect for backpacks, lunchboxes, or to gift to a friend! Students will explore a new craft each day and bring their ideas to life using materials like beads, shrink art, foam clay, yarn, unique charms and more! Every class ends with a finished project they can proudly take home and show off!

 

The Oaks News - Are you a news junkie? We need writers and reporterswho can’t wait to share good news! The Oak Newspaper is currently the very best (and only) newspaper at Los Encinos School. Rock on and Iron-On! (2nd - 6th grade) - Create your own graphic design, learn how to use design software, tools, and techniques (Cricut cutter, iron-on vinyl, heat press, and weeding), and apply them to your very own apparel. Shirts provided (or bring in your own sweatshirt, sweatpants, or bag)!

 

Recess Games from Around the World - Students will learn new and fun recess games the children from other countries play. They will learn games from Scotland, Germany, Nigeria, and the Caribbean, to name a few.

 

Shake It Off! A Swiftie Celebration - This joyful four-day class will celebrate the music and creativity of Taylor Swift. We’ll make friendship bracelets, play trivia games, choreograph a dance, create era- inspired art, and enjoy lots of music along the way. Whether you're a longtime Swiftie or just discovering her songs, this class is all about creativity, kindness, fun, and friendship.

 

Outdoor Cooking and Food Preservation - In this exciting week-long class, students will discover the essentials of cooking in the great outdoors. Through hands-on activities, they’ll learn how to find shelter, build a fire safely, purify water, use basic navigation, and identify useful plants. Team challenges and problem-solving scenarios will give students the chance to practice creativity, resilience, and teamwork. By the end of the week, they’ll walk away with confidence in their survival skills and a greater appreciation for nature.

 

Musical Theater Dance Class - This dance class is a hybrid performing art blending contemporary dance techniques with theatrical elements like spoken word, drama, props, and pedestrian movement to prioritize emotional expression and storytelling over technical virtuosity.

 

Mahjong Club - This is a fun and engaging class where students learn how to play the traditional tile game Mahjong. In this class, children practice matching tiles, building sets, and using strategy while developing memory, focus, and critical thinking skills. We also explore the history of Mahjong and how games can bring communities together. Students will enjoy working collaboratively, celebrating successes, and building community in a warm and welcoming environment.

 

Biomes from Around the World - In this hands-on project-based class, students will explore different biomes around the world and learn about their unique climates, plants, animals, and environmental features. After studying each biome, students will design and build a specific biome using creative materials and problem-solving skills. This project encourages scientific understanding, creativity, collaboration, and engineering as students bring their biome to life through interactive design.

AFTERNOON session options (1:15pm – 2:45pm)

Fairytale Gardens-  Step into a world of imagination, creativity, and wonder! In this enchanting class, students will explore the magical world of fairies while designing and creating their very own fairy gardens. Through storytelling, nature exploration, and hands-on crafting, children will learn about the elements that make a fairy garden special, tiny homes, natural materials, imaginative landscapes, and thoughtful details. Students will plan their designs, sketch their ideas, and build miniature environments using moss, pebbles, twigs, flowers, and other natural treasures.

 

Rock Band Recording Studio - Ever wanted to be a rock star and make music in a recording studio? In this class, students will use their musical skills to record covers of their favorite rock and pop songs and create an album! Any instruments are welcome! Don’t sing or play an instrument? No problem! Non-musicians will help engineer and produce recording sessions.

 

K-Pop Dance - Are you ready to learn new dance moves with point choreography? This K-Pop dance class is high energy and synchronized dancing, blending hip-hop, jazz, street dance and funk.

 

Illustrator’s Workshop - Step into the world of professional illustrators! In this studio-style class, students will practice foundational drawing skills such as observing shapes, using proportion, creating depth with perspective, and developing confident line work. Through guided practice and creative challenges, young artists will strengthen their ability to draw what they see and communicate ideas clearly. In the second half of the week, students will apply their new skills to create original black-and-white illustrations for a special project: a published coloring book for incoming kindergarten students. Their artwork will help welcome new families while showcasing their craftsmanship and creativity. This class offers a calm, focused environment where students can build real artistic skills and take pride in producing meaningful work.

 

Fun and Mindful Yoga - This yoga program for combines movement, mindfulness, and imaginative play to build strength, balance, and focus. Through themed yoga adventures, partner activities, and fun relaxation exercises, students will develop confidence, teamwork, and self-awareness in an engaging way. No prior experience is needed—just a curious mind and a willingness to explore!

 

Piece It Together - Join us as we build patience, teamwork, and visual thinking skills by solving and designing our OWN jigsaw puzzles. You’ll choose from a wide variety of puzzles that teach sorting, edge building, pattern recognition, and collaborative problem-solving. Students will also become puzzle designers, creating original jigsaw puzzles to share with friends and bring home. We'll even learn a bit about the history of jigsaw puzzles!

 

Jewelry Making Magnets - Create unique jewelry, decorative magnets, and small sculptures using a variety of clay. In this hands-on class, you’ll explore shaping, detailing, and finishing techniques while designing your own custom pieces. Perfect if you love art and have strong fine motor skills, you’ll leave with one-of-a-kind creations to take home.

 

Paracord Pals Paradise - Get ready for four days of colorful, hands-on creativity! Students will learn exciting paracord knotting skills while creating a new project each day, including woven bracelets, personalized keychains, and a small pouch perfect for holding trinkets and treasures. They’ll also design expressive LEGO-style characters connected to our RULER and Mood Meter, tying creativity to emotional awareness. Throughout the week the projects will build in detail and complexity as skills grow. By the end of the week, students will leave with new skills and a collection of handmade pieces they’ll be proud to show off!

 

Best Book Club Ever! - Join us for a fun and engaging Book Club experience! Throughout the week, students will read together each day, enjoying a great story as a group. We’ll pause along the way to discuss important moments, share ideas, make predictions, and dive deeper into the characters and themes. Each day will also include creative, themed activities connected to the book — from games to writing, art, and other interactive challenges that bring the story to life. We’ll end with a themed party complete with treats to celebrate finishing the book! Get ready for a week full of cozy ambiance, yummy snacks, and some great reading.

 

Desserts Galore - If you don’t like desserts - this class isn’t for you!  We will explore the many types of desserts from around the world and the best part is we get to eat them too! The class will also cover measuring, mixing, decorating, and food safety. 

 

Badminton - The next ultimate Sport!! Players will develop the skills required to take their game to the next level. Learn badminton-specific footwork and strokework fundamentals and have fun playing matches with friends.
