CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
(Open to grades 1-6, unless noted otherwise.)
MORNING session options (8:45am – 10:15am)
Martial Arts Masters- Become a martial arts master with this fun and engaging class! Students will learn basic stances, moves, combos, and forms from Korean martial arts Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do. They’ll also stay active with fun games and challenges.
Eagle Newspaper – Recently named “The Only Newspaper at Los Encinos School,” the Oak News is looking for reporters, writers, photographers, cartoonists, and puzzle makers to complete the first issue of the 2025-2026 school year.
Piñata Power – Students will learn about the history and cultural importance of piñatas, then design and build their very own! We will build the base of their piñata and decorate it with papier-mache, bright tissue paper, paint, and lots of imagination. This class combines art, culture, and hands-on work, and will end with a chance to display their creation.
3D Miniature Mania- Students will 3D design, print, and paint/color sets of miniature figurines. As a bonus, these young designers will have the opportunity to create a storage container for their miniatures that transforms into a playset using Makedo cardboard accessories.
Scrap Booking – Students will scrapbook to tell their personal stories by choosing photos, drawing pictures, and adding stickers or decorations that show important moments in their lives. Each page will highlight a memory, hobby, or special event, helping them share their experiences in a creative and colorful way. Through this process, students learn how to organize their ideas and express their own unique story visually.
Winter Show Set Design – Students will collaborate to design and build the backdrop for this year’s Winter Show! Using a wide range of materials, including acrylic paint, mixed media, paper collage, and textured elements, we’ll transform large-scale panels into a magical, winter-themed setting for the stage. We will focus on different artistic techniques such as painting, layering, and collage, allowing students to explore composition, color harmony, and collaborative design. Every participant will contribute their unique flair while learning and creating together. This class is perfect for young artists who love to paint big, get a little messy, and be part of something larger than themselves. All that is needed is imagination, teamwork, and a willingness to help create something magical!
Fairytale Villains…the Other Side of their story - Ever wondered what REALLY happened in your favorite fairy tales? Were the villains always as bad as they seemed? Come explore the dark and mysterious side of classic stories! Meet the Big Bad Wolf, the Wicked Queen, Captain Hook, and more as we dive into THEIR side of the tale. Maybe they aren’t as evil as we thought… or maybe they’re even worse! Join us for storytelling and exciting activities as we uncover what makes these villains tick. Grades 4-6!
Board Games Around the World – Students will be introduced to a variety of games from various countries and cultures. They will learn about their origins and how to play. At the end of the week, students will even get to take home one of the games!
Wilderness Survival Skills – In this exciting week-long class, students will discover the essentials of surviving in the great outdoors. Through hands-on activities, they’ll learn how to find shelter, build a fire safely, purify water, use basic navigation, and identify useful plants. Team challenges and problem-solving scenarios will give students the chance to practice creativity, resilience, and teamwork. By the end of the week, they’ll walk away with confidence in their survival skills and a greater appreciation for nature.
Lights, Camera, Action – Be a Part of Our Theatre – In this class, students will experience the excitement of putting on a play! They will learn how to audition for parts, practice stage presence, and work together as a cast. Each student will be assigned a role and will practice “memorizing” their lines to bring the play to life. At the end of the session, the class will perform a short play to showcase their hard work, creativity, and teamwork.
Gardening 101 – Young gardeners will decorate their very own plant pots and learn how to grow a variety of herbs such as basil, mint, and rosemary. Students will explore how herbs grow, what they need to stay healthy, and how they can be used in everyday cooking.
Pickleball Mania – Learn how to play pickleball and hone your skill with a variety of drills and games.

AFTERNOON session options (1:00pm – 2:30pm)
The Great Puzzle Adventure – Students will explore the exciting world of puzzles! They will become familiar with various types of puzzles, including jigsaw, logic, and riddles. Each session will include teamwork activities, where kids will collaborate to solve challenges, create their own puzzles, and solve each other’s creations. This class encourages critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills, all while fostering a love for problem-solving.
Yoga – Yoga eagle day students will combine movement, mindfulness, and imaginative play to build strength, balance, and focus. Through themed yoga adventures, partner activities, and fun relaxation exercises, kids will develop confidence, teamwork, and self-awareness in an engaging way. No prior experience is needed—just a curious mind and a willingness to explore!
Jeopardy Game Show – Students will participate in jeopardy-style game shows about different topics. They will then have the opportunity to create their own jeopardy-style game show about a topic of their choice!
Let’s Help the Shelters! – Students will learn about the important work of pet shelters and their volunteers, and why it is so important to adopt pets in need of homes. We will learn what we can do to help and will make toys and treats to donate.
Intro to Dungeons and Dragons (4-6th grade only) – Step into a world of imagination and adventure! In this introduction to Dungeons & Dragons, students will learn the basics of this classic role-playing game while creating their own characters, exploring teamwork, and telling stories together.
Camping! – Students will explore the basics of camping through fun, hands-on activities. Each day, they’ll learn new outdoor skills such as setting up a tent, building a safe campfire, cooking simple camp meals, and identifying plants and wildlife. Team-building games and storytelling around the “campfire” will help students practice cooperation, problem-solving, and creativity. By the end of the week, students will have the confidence and knowledge to enjoy the great outdoors while building lasting memories.
Intro to Circuitry and Soldering! – Students will explore how electricity works through fun, creative projects. They’ll experiment with simple circuits, learn basic soldering skills, and build their own moving creations using everyday materials. Along the way, they’ll discover the science behind how things light up, move, and power on.
Mindfulness Moments! – In this class, students will explore all kinds of cool mindfulness activities that help their bodies, minds, and hearts feel calm and happy. From stretching like a yogi to creating Zen doodles and mindfulness jars, kids will discover new ways to relax, focus, and find their calm.
Charcuterie Boards – In our charcuterie-making class, students will learn how to create beautiful and tasty snack boards. We will practice arranging different types of food in colorful and creative ways. Everyone will make their own mini board to share, learning that charcuterie is not just about food—it’s a fun way to tell a story through colors, flavors, and textures!
Code Quest – (4th-6th grade students only)- Dive into the exciting world of coding in this 90-minute creative adventure! Students will get hands-on experience learning how to design interactive games and build their very own website from scratch! This fast-paced intro class mixes fun challenges, teamwork, and problem-solving as students explore real coding tools and see their ideas come to life on screen. Perfect for curious minds ready to create, code, and level up their digital skills!
Soccer Clinic – Students will build skills in dribbling, passing, teamwork, and sportsmanship through exciting drills and games. Each day brings new challenges and plenty of playtime. The week wraps up with a friendly tournament where players can show off what they’ve learned and celebrate their progress together.
